As part of our efforts to contribute to the growth of the maritime shipping business, we’ve become a key player in our regional industry. We’ve developed a streamlined, exceptional work process and continue to grow as we achieve consistency and reliability in exceeding customer expectations.
Waruna started as a shipyard business in the year 1990. During those early years, the shipyard was mostly known and relied upon for its ship repair services. Eventually, it grew into a shipbuilding services for countries throughout the region. After several more years, in an effort to meet its customers' needs, Waruna augmented segments of its business to incorporate a full suite of shipping services.
In 1995, Waruna took over ownership of Harbour Tug the expanded to Tanker shortly thereafter. The company then began serving customers with its first small tanker in 1996.
The first dockyard with a capacity up to 7,000 DWT followed by dock 2 and 3 was launched in 1998. A larger dock was added four years later in 2002.
The dock facilities were enlarged further to the fifth and sixth dry-docks completed in 2008.
In 2009 The First big tanker started to operate and become the main focus of Waruna Group Business
After 2010, the shipping business penetrated Tug & Barge services, as well as bulk carriers in 2015.
Waruna Shipyard continues to improve its services and grow rapidly. The improvement is proofed by gaining ISO 9001 2008
in 2019 we continued to scale up our business by commencing operation of our first LPG tanker. Also, in 2019 we launched a new dry-dock that could accommodate up to 120,000 DWT. It has become one of our greatest achievements to date.
Waruna continues to transform and evolve to adapt to new business models and regulation requirements in the competitive maritime shipping industry. We strive to ensure good corporate governance, further develop our team, keep our vessels in top shape, and improve our internal processes and performance. We constantly encourage ourselves to assess our own safety management systems in order to ensure the highest standards for team safety.
