Waruna Group continues to strengthen workforce competency in safe and standard-compliant scaffolding installation through hands-on Scaffolding Training held at Dock VII of PT Waruna Shipyard Indonesia (WSI), one of the entities within Waruna Group. From May to September 2026, the program was conducted in eight batches, reaching a total of 102 participants, most of whom were scaffolding workers employed by subcontractors.
The training was delivered progressively from Batch I to Batch VIII. Beginning with Batch VI, employees of WSI also joined the program, expanding its coverage beyond subcontractor personnel. Throughout the training, the Scaffolding Group Leader served as the internal trainer, providing technical guidance, while the HSE/Project Safety Inspector supervised the activities to ensure that safety considerations were maintained at every stage.
The sessions began with a workplace safety briefing, including inspections of personal protective equipment (PPE) and full-body harnesses. Participants then practised the scaffolding installation process, covering the placement of four standards, ledgers and transoms, perimeter ledgers, bracing, and perimeter bracing pipes, followed by the installation of the scaffolding flooring and platform using steel planks.

In addition to installation techniques, participants received guidance on the proper use of ratchet wrenches, the installation of safety railings as part of fall-protection measures, safe techniques for climbing pipes, correct ladder positioning, and securing ladders with wire. Upon completion of the assembly, participants also inspected the installed scaffolding to assess installation accuracy and compliance with safety requirements.
Through hands-on practice, participants gained a practical understanding of installation procedures and how to apply safety principles in actual working conditions. Guidance from the Scaffolding Group Leader, together with supervision by the HSE/Project Safety Inspector, helped reinforce proper installation methods, the correct use of safety equipment, and the application of safe working practices.

Through this initiative, Waruna Group reaffirms its commitment to prioritising safety, developing a competent workforce, and maintaining compliance with applicable work standards. The Scaffolding Training program is scheduled to continue through the end of 2026, with subsequent batches arranged according to operational needs. Its continued implementation is expected to strengthen workforce skills and support the consistent application of safety standards across the shipyard.
